i can now say that seeing wild fires on tv and being an actual evacuee are quite different. our neighborhood received an evacuation order early saturday as the yorba linda fire started to creep along the ridge line. very surreal experience, like being stuck in a bad disaster movie that’s actually real.
according to fire fighters, had the wind been blowing the other direction, our entire neighborhood would have been destroyed. our house remains intact, despite some damage to our yard. the community is shaken about the whole ordeal, and i’m looking for a break from all things fire. unfortunately, some of us don’t have that luxury, and my heart goes out to all the families that have suffered losses. it’s truly heartbreaking, and my thoughts are with you.
